   Patchwork of Possibilities

Patchwork of Possibilities...Stitch by stitch and patch by patch, women have long known how to combine love and ingenuity to keep their families warm and safe. Sadly, for many women, determination and desire are in ample supply, but opportunities are not. The Women's Fund of the Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Region created A Patchwork of Possibilities to raise public awareness of the important roles women play in our region, their contributions to our quality of life, and resources to help address women's issues today.

Humorous, historical, thoughtful and reflective, these quilts were purchased for $1,500 by 30 businesses in our communities, and were displayed at their place of business or in public spaces such as the EGF Campbell Library during the summer of 2007.

For those of you who were not able to see the quilts in person, we have displayed them on this website. Below, under the category of Our Quilt Display, is a listing of the names of the 30 quilts that were made for this project.

Building Our Patchwork of Possibilities:

To help us build our endowment, the Women's Fund received a significant grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation in 2006, providing monies to match contributions, up to $25,000 each year through 2008. They have also provided funds for staffing and for immediate local granting during our building period.

Please Help Us Create Our Quilt:

When you make a contribution to the Women's Fund endowment, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar (100%) by the matching funds of the Otto Bremer Foundation (up to $25,000). In other words, your check for $100 becomes $200 for the Women's Fund. Thank you so very much for joining us in this effort to empower women and girls in our region!

"It's great to know that the investments we make will benefit women and girls far into the future. We're reaching out our hands to sisters we will never know. That's a good feeling.
